# Cyprus Comic Con 2026: More Life, Less Room

Cosplay, live music and the Medieval Quarter stood out. Finding room to enjoy it all—and something different to take home—was harder.

Cyprus Comic Con felt full of life this year. It also felt short of room. More people were dressing up, the Medieval Quarter was a nice upgrade, and the live music added a lot to the atmosphere. But everything felt packed, and as a collector I found fewer things that excited me.

I went on Saturday, 3 October, during the [2–4 October event](<https://cypruscomiccon.org/>) at the Cyprus State Fair in Nicosia. I stayed about five hours before heading back to Limassol. Spending both days in Nicosia wasn't practical for me, so Saturday was my chance to take it in.

## The crowd was part of the attraction

I noticed a lot more cosplay this year, beyond the competition itself. Plenty of people were dressed up just to be there, and it was great seeing younger people getting into it. There was a good mix of ages across the crowd too.

That's something I really like about Comic Con: people coming to take part, not only to buy things. A costume adds to everyone else's day as well as your own. The crowd becomes part of what you've come to see.

## The Medieval Quarter got it right

The Medieval Quarter was one of my favourite parts of the day, and a clear step up from last year. The bard's music fitted the setting perfectly. It was exactly the atmosphere I'd hoped for, and I'd love to see more areas given that kind of attention.

The live music elsewhere was refreshing too. Hearing familiar tracks played by musicians added a lot to the day. Those are the things that make being there feel special.

## The space is becoming a problem

The venue was my biggest frustration. Too much of the crowd seemed squeezed into the same two main areas, making it harder to get around or stop and look at something. The Cyprus State Fair is becoming a headache.

I'm not sure where else they could hold it. There are other halls on the site, though, so could more of those be opened up? I'd rather have room to enjoy what's already there than squeeze even more into the same layout.

## Fewer things caught my eye

On the collecting side, this year felt weaker. I didn't see as many unusual items or exciting new things. The 3D world felt a bit lacking, and I'd have liked more unique pieces and original creations.

There were plenty of posters and art prints. They're not really my thing, but that side was well represented. I'd like a broader mix of artists and themes, with more to discover beyond prints.

Finding something unexpected is a big part of why I browse convention stalls. This year, I had fewer of those moments.

I did have some good conversations with merchants, though. Most of the ones I spoke to seemed happy with how things were going, and they still had Sunday ahead of them. That was good to hear.

## More of the Japanese and Korean food, please

I didn't eat at the convention, but some of the Japanese and Korean options caught my eye. It was nice to see more food that fitted the interests people were there for.

I'd like to see those options given more space and made easier to spot. They feel much more at home here than another Taco Bell, Pizza Hut or KFC. Food could be a bigger part of the experience, something to look forward to alongside the stalls and activities.

## Give us a reason to visit the booth

I'd like sponsors to bring more of that thinking to their booths too. If you're bringing the same products I can buy at your shop any day, what's the reason to visit you at Comic Con?

Give us something different: an artist collaboration, a demo, a themed activity, an unusual selection, or a good convention offer. It doesn't have to be complicated. Just make being there worthwhile.

I know sponsorship helps pay for the event. I'd still like brands to do more with the opportunity than set up another shop counter.

The Medieval Quarter, the music and the cosplay gave me plenty to enjoy this year. That's what I'd build on next time, with more space and a more varied mix of things to discover. Coming from Limassol, I want a day I couldn't get by visiting a few shops at home. The best parts of this year's Comic Con gave me exactly that. More of those, please.
