Two One Piece Films Are Coming. Here Is What the Announcement Actually Confirms

Two new One Piece films are official. The franchise announced ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY and ONE PIECE FILM BAAD↗ (opens in a new tab) during ONE PIECE DAY ’26 on 23 August 2026.

GOD VALLEY is scheduled for a nationwide Japanese theatrical release in summer 2027. BAAD is scheduled for a nationwide Japanese theatrical release in 2029. Nearly two weeks after the reveal, those titles, windows and anniversary links remain most of what the official material confirms.

That distinction matters because some English-language coverage now describes GOD VALLEY as a direct adaptation of the manga’s God Valley material↗ (opens in a new tab) . The title makes that reading plausible. The production’s announcement and official film site do not yet state it.

The confirmed announcement

The official material uses those English-language titles. It does not place a colon after FILM, and BAAD is spelled with two As. There are no exact dates, synopses, staff lists or cast announcements.

GOD VALLEY is still a title, not a synopsis

GOD VALLEY immediately points manga readers towards one of the most consequential events in One Piece lore. A film using that name can reasonably be expected to engage with that material, but the announcement does not define how.

It does not specify the story’s viewpoint, time span or relationship to the manga’s existing account. It does not say whether the film will reproduce known material, expand it, frame it through another character or build an original story around the name.

The same gap leaves the film’s canon status unconfirmed. Calling it a settled adaptation, a canonical film or a complete account of the incident goes further than the production’s published wording.

BAAD reveals how little has been announced

BAAD has not been assigned a setting, protagonist or production team. The official announcement says Eiichiro Oda handwrote its title image, but it does not explain the word, its pronunciation or what it refers to.

Its only release information is the year 2029 and the announcement’s link to the television anime’s 30th anniversary. It has not been identified as a sequel to GOD VALLEY.

The teaser announces projects rather than showing films

The 55-second teaser combines mostly monochrome ink animation with a brief sequence of manga panels, then reveals the title logos and the release wording 2027 SUMMER and 2029. It does not present finished character animation or identify voice actors, a director, a writer or other production staff.

A visually forceful announcement can feel more informative than it is. Here, the teaser establishes that the films exist and fixes their titles. It does not resolve their content.

Two announcements do not make a two-part story

The films were announced together, years apart, with separate production-committee copyright lines. That connects them as a coordinated anniversary announcement, not necessarily as two halves of one narrative.

Neither the Japanese announcement nor the English film site uses language such as part one, part two, duology or two-part series. Oda’s only specifically identified contribution is the handwritten BAAD title image; no production role has been announced for him on either film.

Japan has release windows; Cyprus does not

The franchise has launched an official English film site↗ (opens in a new tab) , and Toei Animation has promoted the announcement in English. That shows international awareness, but Toei says the global release is still to be determined.

No distributor, territory or date has been announced for Cyprus, the wider European market or any other region outside Japan. A Japanese window should not be converted into an international release date.

What would materially change the picture

For GOD VALLEY, a synopsis, staff list or first animated footage could establish whether the title names a direct manga adaptation, an expansion or another kind of film story. For BAAD, even a short description would substantially change what can be said.

For now, One Piece has two theatrical projects on its calendar after FILM RED. Their titles, Japanese release windows and anniversary framing are confirmed. Their stories, canon status, relationship, production teams and international rollout are still waiting for evidence.
