This Week in Jump: Fifteenth in the Line-up, First in the News

Nue’s Exorcist gets a summer 2027 TV anime in the same week it holds 15th place, while Shinobi Undercover and Me & Roboco pass quiet milestones.

Weekly Shonen Jump 2026 No. 46 puts Shinobi Undercover on its cover for the series’ second anniversary and 100th chapter. The bigger story of the week sits much further back in the magazine. Nue’s Exorcist, 15th in the running order for the second issue in a row, has been confirmed for a TV anime in summer 2027.

This is the first This Week in Jump since No. 37-38 in August, so the column picks up with a magazine in steady shape: no series on break, One Piece back, and a run of anime dates now stretching from January to summer 2027.

Nue’s Exorcist has an anime and an unchanged slot

The announcement came on Shueisha’s Jump PRESS broadcast on 12 October. Anime News Network (opens in a new tab) and the official site (opens in a new tab) confirm a summer 2027 broadcast on the TV Asahi network, produced by Studio Hibari. Hiroyuki Hashimoto directs, Hiroshi Seko handles series composition, Shunpei Mochizuki designs the characters and MONACA writes the music. Kaito Miura voices Gakuro Yajima, Saori Ōnishi voices Nue and Sayumi Suzushiro voices Kazusa Suo. A teaser visual and promotional video are out.

None of that moved the manga. Chapter 164 runs 15th in No. 46, exactly where it ran in No. 45, according to the fan tracker jump-otona (opens in a new tab) . Running order is an editorial decision partly shaped by reader surveys, not a published popularity ranking, and an anime is usually agreed long before it is announced. A middling slot and a television deal can both be true at once.

The magazine’s own response comes next week. The official No. 47 preview gives Nue’s Exorcist the cover and lead colour.

Two milestones arrived without much noise

Shinobi Undercover reaches its 100th chapter and second anniversary with the cover, lead colour and first place in the line-up, up from seventh last week. The issue also opens a reader-question corner for the series.

Me & Roboco reaches chapter 300 (opens in a new tab) in fifth place with no colour page. Its celebration is deferred rather than skipped: No. 47 brings a centre colour for volume 28. Together with Ichi the Witch, which took the No. 45 cover for its own second anniversary and runs sixth with chapter 101, this is a quietly rich stretch for the magazine’s middle generation.

One Piece is back and the bench barely moves

One Piece chapter 1195 (opens in a new tab) returns third after its break in No. 45, and no series is on break this week. Akane-banashi holds second.

The clearest upward move belongs to Witch Watch, up four places to ninth (one tracker has it eighth). A news account that is not official reports that the series enters its final battle in No. 47. No ending has been announced. The sharpest fall is Graykeith: Translator Daemonica, down four to 14th at only chapter 5. At the bottom, Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz, Cannon Master and HAL Formula hold the last three places, with HAL Formula last.

Sakamoto Days keeps its position near the top

Sakamoto Days chapter 278 (opens in a new tab) runs fourth, down one place only because One Piece is back. It has stayed in the top six in every recent issue. Shueisha announced in July that the series is heading to its climax (opens in a new tab) , but there is still no end date or final chapter count. Forum talk about when it might finish is only talk.

The anime side is fixed: Netflix confirms (opens in a new tab) that Season 2 starts in January 2027.

Kagurabachi is small in print and large on screen

Kagurabachi chapter 134 (opens in a new tab) runs 17th, and jump-otona marks it on reduced pages for the second week running. It has sat between 13th and 18th all autumn.

The anime is moving the other way. On 12 October the official anime site (opens in a new tab) added a third leg to the World Tour, with Singapore on 29 November, Seoul on 6 December and São Paulo in December. The tour ends with a Japan premiere at the Kabukiza theatre in Tokyo on 25 March 2027, screening the first two episodes with live viewings in cinemas across Japan. Taiga Kimura, Tomokazu Seki and Katsuyuki Konishi appear on stage. The TV broadcast is still set for April 2027.

Shorter chapters say nothing official about why they are shorter, and this column will not guess. What the week does show is a series whose magazine footprint and screen campaign are currently moving in opposite directions.

The Golden Future Cup and a crowded January

This week’s centre-colour one-shot is Banchoism by Sai Koroko, the third entry in the Golden Future Cup 2026, a reader-survey contest that can lead to serialisation. The fourth entry, by Isshin Mineuchi, arrives in No. 47. No new serial starts and none ends in No. 46.

The anime calendar is filling up. Sakamoto Days Season 2, Akane-banashi Season 2 (Season 1 aired April–June 2026) and Mashle Season 3 all begin in January 2027, Kagurabachi follows in April and Nue’s Exorcist in summer. Black Clover’s second season (opens in a new tab) has been airing since 3 October, and No. 47 promises new cast comments. Readers coming back to that series can start with the Black Clover Season 2 refresher.

Warm to hot, because the news outran the magazine

No. 46 is a solid issue rather than a landmark one: a 100th chapter on the cover, a 300th inside, One Piece back and no breaks. Its heat comes from outside the pages. Nue’s Exorcist shows how little a single line-up position can tell anyone about a series’ future, and next week the magazine gives it the cover.
